| Description | This course provides a broad overview of the types of knowledge and skills social workers need to perform their roles within a hospice agency.

| Learning Objectives | - Examine the history of hospice and the role and efficacy of social work in hospice.
- Illustrate the role of social work in hospice regarding assessment, emotional support, placement, and crisis intervention.
- Identify the role of social work in hospice regarding end of life decisions and insurance issues.
- Review ways to build a stronger sense of professional social work identity in the hospice environment.
- Relate some of the special challenges social workers face when working in hospice.
